Where Your Pride Community Power Come Home

Caribbean Diaspora United is where the diaspora finds its voice, its family, and its strength. We’re the bridge between two worlds honoring where we come from while building something powerful right here, right now. Join a community that gets it. That celebrates you. That shows up when it matters.

WHO WE ARE

Caribbean Diaspora United: Your Community, Your Movement

We are Caribbean Diaspora United, Inc. (CDU), a New York-based movement dedicated to one simple, powerful truth:

Founded to strengthen bonds across our scattered family, CDU is more than a nonprofit, we’re a home base for everyone navigating the beautiful, complicated reality of the diaspora. Whether you’re second-generation, just moved abroad, or have been building your life here for decades, this is your place.

We provide a platform for collaboration, advocacy, and meaningful action. Because being part of the diaspora shouldn’t mean choosing between your two worlds. It should mean claiming power in both.

Eugene M. Pursoo,

President of CDU

Led by Vision.
Grounded in Experience.

CDU is guided by Ambassador Eugene M. Pursoo, former Ambassador to the United Nations from Grenada.

This isn’t just a title—it’s a testament to someone who has stood in rooms where Caribbean voices weren’t always centered, and made sure they were heard. Ambassador Pursoo brings:

Under his leadership, CDU has become the trusted advocate our diaspora deserves. He doesn’t just lead from the top—he shows up at our breakfasts, listens to our concerns, and fights for our shared interests on every stage he can reach.
“Ambassador Pursoo reminds us that our Caribbean identity is not something we outgrow, it’s something we grow into.”

Our Mission

CDU’s mission is to bring together the diverse Caribbean diaspora, creating a powerful, collective voice to address common issues, advocate for shared interests, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Our Vision:

Being an integral part of community building through organized endeavors

We Envision a Diaspora That Is

The Principles That Guide Us

Authenticity

We don’t code-switch when you’re here. Bring your whole self, your accent, your stories, your pride, your struggles.

Collective Power

Alone we’re strong. Together, we’re unstoppable. “Tout moun help out” (everyone pitches in) that’s not just a phrase, it’s how we operate.

Respect for All Islands

Whether you’re Jamaican, Haitian, Dominican, Grenadian, Trinidadian, or any Caribbean nation, we honor all our islands equally. The diaspora is beautifully diverse, and we celebrate every shade of it.

Action Over Talk

We don’t just discuss issues, we respond. We show up. We give resources. We build solutions.

Intergenerational Responsibility

We’re building for our children and their children. Every decision asks: “Will this matter in 20 years?”

The Principles That Guide Us

Where Connection Becomes Action

We focus on two core areas that matter most to our community:

INITIATIVE 2

Annual Unity Breakfasts & Community Gatherings

Our annual breakfasts and community gatherings bring diaspora members together to foster collaboration, honor achievements, and build stronger networks. Because when Caribbean people gather intentionally, we create something powerful.

INITIATIVE 2

Disaster Relief Fund

Recognizing the Caribbean’s vulnerability to hurricanes and other natural disasters, CDU established a dedicated fund to provide urgent relief and recovery support for affected communities. When disaster strikes our islands, we respond with resources, compassion, and action.

As A Member

You don’t need to be “enough” to join. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need permission to come home to yourself and your people.

Come as you are. Bring what you have. Be part of what we’re building.

In Gratitude

Chapeau, that Caribbean acknowledgment of deep respect and honor goes to everyone making this work possible.

To government agencies listening and supporting.
To partner organizations walking alongside us.

To Ambassador Pursoo providing the vision and integrity this movement deserves.

To community members showing up, speaking up, and giving back.

To you for caring enough to be here.

CDU amplifies the voice of the diaspora, working alongside these partners to advance shared goals and uplift Caribbean communities at home and abroad.

Because real change happens when we do this together.

Your Home Is Waiting

Whether you were born in the Caribbean or your heart just lives there—whether you left yesterday or decades ago—whether you’re dealing with visa complications, hurricane grief, or just missing your people:

This is your space. This is your family. This is your movement.

Come celebrate. Come grieve. Come organize. Come rest. Come home.

"From many islands, one people. One voice. One unbreakable force."
