nos somos uno - We are one
Caribbean Diaspora United is where the diaspora finds its voice, its family, and its strength. We’re the bridge between two worlds honoring where we come from while building something powerful right here, right now. Join a community that gets it. That celebrates you. That shows up when it matters.
WHO WE ARE
We are Caribbean Diaspora United, Inc. (CDU), a New York-based movement dedicated to one simple, powerful truth:
Founded to strengthen bonds across our scattered family, CDU is more than a nonprofit, we’re a home base for everyone navigating the beautiful, complicated reality of the diaspora. Whether you’re second-generation, just moved abroad, or have been building your life here for decades, this is your place.
We provide a platform for collaboration, advocacy, and meaningful action. Because being part of the diaspora shouldn’t mean choosing between your two worlds. It should mean claiming power in both.
President of CDU
CDU is guided by Ambassador Eugene M. Pursoo, former Ambassador to the United Nations from Grenada.
This isn’t just a title—it’s a testament to someone who has stood in rooms where Caribbean voices weren’t always centered, and made sure they were heard. Ambassador Pursoo brings:
CDU’s mission is to bring together the diverse Caribbean diaspora, creating a powerful, collective voice to address common issues, advocate for shared interests, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Being an integral part of community building through organized endeavors

Empowered to advocate for what matters to us
Celebrated for the brilliance and resilience we bring everywhere we go
Thriving economically, culturally, and socially

Alone we’re strong. Together, we’re unstoppable. “Tout moun help out” (everyone pitches in) that’s not just a phrase, it’s how we operate.

INITIATIVE 2
Our annual breakfasts and community gatherings bring diaspora members together to foster collaboration, honor achievements, and build stronger networks. Because when Caribbean people gather intentionally, we create something powerful.
INITIATIVE 2
Recognizing the Caribbean’s vulnerability to hurricanes and other natural disasters, CDU established a dedicated fund to provide urgent relief and recovery support for affected communities. When disaster strikes our islands, we respond with resources, compassion, and action.

WHO WE ARE
WAYS TO JOIN
You don’t need to be “enough” to join. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need permission to come home to yourself and your people.
Chapeau, that Caribbean acknowledgment of deep respect and honor goes to everyone making this work possible.
To Ambassador Pursoo providing the vision and integrity this movement deserves.
To community members showing up, speaking up, and giving back.
To you for caring enough to be here.
Whether you were born in the Caribbean or your heart just lives there—whether you left yesterday or decades ago—whether you’re dealing with visa complications, hurricane grief, or just missing your people:
This is your space. This is your family. This is your movement.
Come celebrate. Come grieve. Come organize. Come rest. Come home.
